Police have started an investigation after members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal protested against an allegedly objectionable video circulated on social media, claiming that it had hurt religious sentiments. The organisations gathered at Noamundi Police Station on Sunday and submitted a memorandum demanding a fair inquiry and appropriate legal action.

Complaint Filed Over Facebook Post
According to the memorandum submitted by the protesters, the disputed video was allegedly uploaded through a Facebook account belonging to a woman currently residing in the Noamundi market area on rent. The complaint stated that she is originally from Madhya Pradesh and alleged that the video triggered resentment among local residents and members of religious organisations after it circulated online.

Police Removed Video, Started Investigation
Considering the sensitivity of the matter, Noamundi police intervened and ensured that the disputed video was removed from the social media platform. Police officials said a detailed investigation has been initiated and that any further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the inquiry. Authorities have not yet announced whether any case has been registered or charges have been filed.

Religious Organisations Demanded Legal Action
The protest was led by VHP block president Nilesh Thakkar, who urged the police to conduct an impartial investigation and act against anyone found responsible under the law. Members of the VHP, Bajrang Dal and the Noamundi Bazaar Committee, along with several local residents, were present while the memorandum was submitted. Officials appealed for restraint while the investigation is underway.
