The employment dispute between OASPL, a part of the Rashmi Metallics Group that has taken over the Abhijeet Power Plant, and former manpower workers has intensified in Jharkhand’s Latehar district. Displaced landowners and the manpower workers’ union have continued their agitation, alleging that the company has failed to fulfil its commitment to restore the jobs of all former employees.

Workers Submitted Memorandum to District Administration
On Monday, Manpower Workers’ Union president Chandradev Oraon met the Circle Officer in Chandwa and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Latehar Deputy Commissioner. The union urged the district administration to intervene and ensure that the employment concerns of displaced families and former workers are addressed without further delay.
Union Alleged Assurance Was Not Honoured
According to the memorandum, the dispute dates back to the acquisition of the 1,080 MW thermal power plant by OASPL under the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) resolution process. The union alleged that all manpower workers were removed from service after the takeover. Following protests, some workers were reinstated and the management reportedly gave a written assurance that the remaining employees would be re-employed in phases over the following months. The union now claims that the company has not acted on that commitment.

It has sought immediate intervention to facilitate dialogue with the management and ensure that pending employment commitments are resolved in accordance with earlier assurances. The management’s response to the latest allegations was not immediately available.
